While reading my gas heat bill today, I noticed I was donating money to pay towards others’ gas bills that are not being paid. Certainly I would remember signing up to do this? I called the gas company, and they said if you pay extra on your heat bill in certain dollar increments, it automatically gets donated. WHAT!? Anyway, she reversed the setup so if I like to pay my bill in even amounts over the current balance, I won’t be donating without my knowledge. So maybe take a look at your bill just to check and see if your are automatically donating without your knowledge!
That’s ridiculous!! Unbelievable!
Our company calls it Operation Roundup. I had never heard of such a thing until moving here a year ago.
I finally noticed on my bill AFTER the phone call with the representative, where they mentioned their donation program. It sounds like it is not just in my location.
whatever happened to credits of extra money applied to your own bill. Some “donation” program, they are just trying to cover their losses.
wow……….We always pay a little extra each month on everything so by the time nov and dec rolls around we have no bills to pay. I am glad the gas company doesnt do it here without my permission. (I always donate my sears points to the boys and girls club and we put all our canadian tire we have saved in the salvation army pot at the end of the year tho)
