Disney’s Family Fun website had a kid friendly recipe for making slime for  Halloween time. However I think anytime is a good time for slime when you have kids.  It’s so easy to make, and sort of a science experiment.
You only need a few ingredients:
1 cup of glue
4 tsp. of borax
Food coloring of your choice

You’ll need two bowls.
In the first, put 3/4 cup of warm water and 1 cup of glue. Then pick what color you want to make your slime. Obviously green is the preferred choice, but I went with purple to make it a little less “icky.” Add your coloring  to the water and glue and stir it in.  (I could have used more to make my color deeper).
In the second bowl put 4 teaspoons of borax and 1 1/3 cups of water and mix.

Then pour the glue mixture into the borax mixture.  DON’T MIX! Let it sit for a couple of minutes.
The borax mixture does not absorb. It just somehow “solidifies” the glue mixture into slime.

Lift out the congealed mass and let it drain a little.
Now it’s ready to be played with.

The mixture gets more solid as time goes on.  My five year old son thoroughly enjoyed it. My eight year old daughter thought it was too gross.  (She also thinks mashed potatoes are gross.)
You can store it in a ziploc bag.

Hope you have fun!

(Just in case there was any doubt, this is NOT edible, so make sure little ones don’t taste test. Borax can be toxic if ingested in large amounts.)
