Ok, when you see my coat closet you may think it’s surely been longer than 2 years since the last time I cleaned it out, but alas, my old post doesn’t lie, and neither does the much bigger shoes my children now wear…So here goes, my current “before” picture:

Uh…Yikes! Flip flops do not work in the snow, and I don’t think we will be wearing our summer sun hats much this time of year, and with all the stuff on the floor, it’s a bit difficult getting my vacuum cleaner in there.

Ask Anna
Thank goodness for I’m An Organizing Junkies challenge or who knows when I would have made myself tackle this closet, and you know, after putting it off, it only took about 30 minutes to get it back into shape. (I wish I could get into shape that fast!)
I switched out the flip flops and stored the summer items in the basement with the beach toys, and donated  a bunch of shoes and coats that the kids have outgrown.
That left plenty of room up top for a bag to keep everyone’s snow pants in, and my cleaning caddy.
My shoe bag on the side still works great for holding everyone’s gloves and hats, and there are just enough spaces for each one of us to have one for each.
I labeled them previously with a permanent marker (sorry for the sloppy handwriting). I purged a few gloves and hats that were too small for the kids.

I’m thrilled to have it done, and I suspect the other members of the house are too!

Now there’s even room for my vacuum cleaner!
Blessings,

  7. You did a great job! Here in Texas, we only have two seasons..hot and hotter. Wish it was colder because I love the caddy for the gloves and hats. I will pass this on to my northern friends/relatives. Thanks!

  8. Totally looks great!!! I love the shoe bag hanging on the side. I swear it is a fight to find a hat, or the other glove. This would so simplify the fights to find something!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!

  11. Great job! I never even thought of doing this, but our coat closet sure needs it. When you open the door sometimes pillows fall out on your head! {its where I stow seasonal and extra decorative pillows} I have some work to do!
    Thanks for the inspiration,
