Joyful Homemaking

Joyful Homemaking

A Heart For Home

Painting and Organizing the Basement (In Progress)

May 27, 2011

When we bought our house 3 years ago we were thrilled with the large basement. Our previous house did not have one, and we vowed we would never buy another house without one. So we love having all that storage and open space for a weight lifting area and kids play area. However it isn’t finished, and up till now most of it has been unpainted and was very dark and dingy.  Here is before we started painting.

Here is the “gorgeous” gray cement block.

Half and half shot….

and after fresh paint!

This is my grocery stockpile area after we painted it.

and after I organized it!

This is the area for the kids’ toys after some cheery paint!
It’s not finished off, and we still have lots we want to do down here, but it still amazes me how much lightness a creamy yellow paint can bring to a dingy basement

Blessings, Margo

Ooh I am jealous of all that space to store food! I think I coupon shop just like you. It did cause me though to try a new salad dressing that has become our favorite. Ken’s Balsalmic Vinegette, I would have never tried but with a B1G1 and two $1.00 coupns I paid 49 cents a bottle.

It’s awesome how a fresh coat of paint can liven up a room.

it looks great, I do not have a basement, or garage. but I have a huge attic, that I can use for storing but I wanted to look nice and organized not cluttered and piles of bags everywhere like it is now. Your room inspires me to keep working my way to fulfill my dream.

Good job! Paint can do such amazing things.. even in a basement. Great job on your storage shelves. I came by earlier in the week, but something was going on with blogger and I couldn’t leave you a comment. Thanks for linking this up to my Organizing Mission link party!
