Joyful Homemaking

A Heart For Home

Organizing the Pantry

June 24, 2011

Oh, the pantry. In my house it’s the place where everything gets stuffed in a hurry to tidy up or unpack groceries. (Hey at least they get “put away”….sometimes later rather than sooner.) Anywhoo the pantry is in constant need of organization.  Here is my before shot.
, Organizing the Pantry, Joyful Homemaking

You can see it’s CHAOS! With company coming for an extended stay, I had extra motivation to whip it into shape. Also, I just had to do something with that door; it seemed like a lot of wasted space, especially since I hardly ever hang up my broom there.

I’ve used shoe bags throughout my house for various storage functions, like for my daughter’s hair accessories.

So I decided to employ one on the pantry door.

I love it! So much more storage, especially for the little things that get buried or lost and forgotten.

I also weeded through the pantry and cleaned and organized.

It looks so much better, don’t ya think?   Now I don’t have to be mortified if someone opens the door! Everything is much easier to find. It may not be flowery or beautiful, but I’ll settle for efficient.

I don’t have a door that I can do that on, but there is a kitchen cabinet where it would work. Now I need to find a shoe hanging thing the right size. Brilliant idea.

It looks great! I would love to have a pantry, but I do have lots of cabinet space in the kitchen.

Looks great! I wish I had a pantry! For some reason builders (at least in this part of the world) seem to think that condo dwellers don’t eat…

Wow! It looks great! I love the shoe rack idea, I used it in college on the bathroom door for storage, but never thought of using it on the pantry door. Great idea! I’d love to have you post this on my Share the Wealth Wednesday Link Party at http://www.laughloveandcraft.com. I’m your newest follower!

That is SOOOOOOOOOOO Cool!!! Thank you so much for posting this… I have been trying to figure out what to do for storage on the back of my pantry door, but was afraid one of the metal ones would end up to heave (not to mention they are expensive). Love, Love, Love this idea!

Love this idea! Unfortunately, I have a glass door on my pantry, but I may be able to add a shoe holder to one of the walls.
