Joyful Homemaking

Joyful Homemaking

A Heart For Home

Thrifty Finds

October 5, 2011

I just love finding a good deal! Last week I had to reorganize some kitchen cabinets, and after reviewing my recent purchases I know why.  A lot of my good deals lately have been kitchen items.

This decorative tea pot was from a local thrift store for around a dollar. It’s not an antique or anything fancy, but it adds some pretty color to my kitchen counter.

While we’re looking at this area, may I just share my brilliant idea? See the three switches above the teapot?
Because of my mushy somewhat oldish brain, I was always turning on the disposal when I meant to turn on the light. So this is what I did…

Awesome right!?
I know, lame but it really helps. It’s the simple things…

I love picking up frames super cheap at yard sales. I paid around a dollar for this one which is more than I usually pay, but I liked it.

This vase would be perfect for pens and pencils, but at the moment I’m using it as a decoration on my bedroom shelf. I purchased it at a thrift store for about a dollar also.

Lately I’ve been loving ceramic and glass casserole dishes. These were a couple of dollars at our local Restore. It’s so ridiculous how much they are at department stores.

This truffle dish was 2$ at a local church yard sale. I can’t wait to make something delicious and pretty to put in it!

I don’t remember how much I paid for this gorgeous oven proof stoneware piece, but I’m sure it wasn’t much. It’s divided in the middle which makes it extra functional.

I don’t know about you, but I am using my large skillet all the time! I bought this stainless steel beauty at a yard sale for $4.00.  I have seen them at department stores for upwards of $60.00, so I was tickled to find this one in excellent condition.
So those are my recent bargains, and I hope you are having fun finding some good deals of your own!
