I Don’t Have the Decorating Gene
We bought our home about 3 years ago, and the reason I fell in love with it is because of the 13 plus foot ceilings in the “great room.” Our previous home had low ceilings in comparison, and I was always afraid my husband would walk into a ceiling fan and chop his head off. Well, not really, but you know what I mean. At 6 foot 3 inches, he isn’t a small guy, and I love that he can now stretch freely. However, I am at a loss at to how to fill up the space on the walls. I know they look a little bare, but I don’t want to overdo them, so that’s where I’m at.

Here is a shot with just the floral bough I made…

What do you think? Is it too much, too little, too busy?
In case you need inspiration for decorating a living room, from a better person than me, here are a few helpful links. Pardon me while I go study them…

Emily A. Clark – I love her idea of painting the walls two different colors on top and bottom!
Hope you find something inspiring!

Hi, Wanda from No Place Like Home. Your wall looks great. Not everyone has the cutting edge creative gene but everyone can have a home that reflects who they are. The greatest compliment I get when someone comes into my home is Wow,”This looks like you”. I think it is a great idea to ask for input from all the talented genetically predisposed creatives. :0) Something may just ring true form their ideas. You have a beautiful home.
God Bless, Wanda
I think it turned out great! Glad to find you on the tt&j linky party 🙂
I think it looks quite beautiful!
Looks good! I love the colors you chose, very warm!
The colors are very pretty and match your room perfectly. It’s also a nice focal point.

I had to come over and see what you did after reading that title! I often think my decorating isn’t up to snuff either – all my creativity goes into my ‘junk’ 🙂 You’ve got a good start here, but if this were my wall, I’d put something a little bigger into the mix, or add more to it. But then again, I did just admit my decorating isn’t up to the designer standards… 😉 Keep playing with it until YOU’RE happy with it 🙂 -Jill
I didn’t get that gene either… But i can say i have got TONS of ideas from pinterest and I am getting better at it….
Very nice!
I really like it. I think it looks great. But I will be honest, I got missed when they were handing out those genes as well.:) Glad I’m not alone.

Margo, you dressed up your mirror and wall nicely. As time goes on you will find your decorative niche. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’m changed my home around until it finally clicked. Thanks for sharing at Throwback Thursday.
