Pretty Crackle Easter Eggs

Easter eggs are a fun project the kids and I do almost every year. Sometimes we use the kits from the store with stands and stickers, and other years we’ve used food coloring and vinegar water to color our Easter eggs, but this year I really wanted to try these gorgeous crackle type Easter eggs.

I love how they turned out!

Directions:
Hard boil the eggs as usual, and then let them cool a bit so they can be handled.

You can try and roll them around to get some nice cracks in the shell, but I ended up tapping them with the handle of a knife to crack them up a bit instead, after breaking one of my eggs through to the yolk.

After you crack them up, he he, you need some food coloring.

After choosing how many different colored Easter eggs you want, use some cups that you don’t mind possibly getting stained. I used some old kids’ restaurant cups and some Christmas cups I bought on clearance.

Add enough water to cover a couple eggs in each, stir in the food coloring till it dissolves, and then add your “crackly” eggs.

I put mine in the refrigerator (so they would stay fresh to eat for later) for about 4 hours.

I thought they turned out so pretty with the colorful crackle finish!
