Science Project for Kids

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Orkin Ecologist for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

With Halloween fast approaching, there is an emphasis on ghoulish and frightening things, and for me, spiders qualify BIG TIME! Orkin knows all about them, along with all other insects, bugs and creepy crawlers. In fact they study them, and now they have a website to help kids and adults learn about the complexity and uniqueness of these diverse creatures: The Orkin Ecologist

My kids and I checked out the Orkin Ecologist website, and learned some interesting facts about spiders that we didn’t know before. Like for instance, the Goliath Bird-Eating spider is large enough to eat  rodents, snakes and lizards! We even watched a video of one catching a mouse! Now that is a spider I never care to meet, but I must say that I’m impressed.

After our research, and in keeping with decorating for Halloween, we made a “Scary Spider” display in our entryway.

We gathered our supplies, and printed off some pictures from the Orkin Ecologist website,
and assembled our poster and display.

Pretty freaky, right!? I must admit, it was fun and educational too!

The Orkin Ecologist site is a fantastic educational resource for both novice and experienced science lovers.  If you’re a homeschool mom, or your child has an interest in creepy crawlers, it’s has fabulous pictures and interesting information.
Check it out, and leave me a comment about what you think of the site!
