2 Ingredient Apple Angel Food Cake

After seeing this cake all over Pinterest, and of course, always looking for a “guilt-free-ish” dessert, I had to give this a try.

I know I said “two ingredient,” and truly you can eat this and enjoy it without my little topping spin, but I HAD to make it pretty!

Here is how you make this sweet treat:
Mix one angel food cake mix with one 20 ounce can of apple pie filling.  I used my kitchen scissors and cut up the chunks of the apples so they would be more bite size, and mix more easily into the batter.  Don’t add anything else that the back of the box says to!  Also, grease and flour your pan, even though the back of the box says not to.

I used a bundt pan instead of a square baking pan, just because I think it makes it a lot prettier.  Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for around 35 minutes, or till top springs back when you touch it.

Let cool in the pan, and then carefully flip onto a dish (if using a bundt pan).  Don’t expect it to turn out light and fluffy like a normal angel food cake, but it has a nice texture, is delicious, and goes great with a cup of coffee!  It’s lightly sweet with chunks of apple, almost like a breakfast cake.

I wanted to make it more “desserty” (sorry for making up my own words :P),  and so I drizzled some caramel and melted store bought frosting over the top.

  5. I plan on making this tomorrow, it sounds so good. I do have a question though. Do you use the dryed egg whites as well?

    1. I’m not quite sure what you mean, unless your dryed egg whites are in a separate package inside the cake mix box, but use everything inside the angel food cake mix box but don’t add anything else to it except the canned apple pie filling. Hope that makes sense. 🙂

    1. I haven’t tried using fresh, but if cut up in little pieces it might work. It wouldn’t be as sweet as using the canned pie filling, but you might like that better.
