It’s been a long time since I was a child, but I can still remember arguing with my 2 younger siblings over whose turn it was to get the prize in the cereal box, and now my kids do the same thing!

Everyone knows that some prizes found in cereal boxes are better than others, and I have to say, that the adorable and funny Minion toys, found in specially marked General Mills Cereals, are a premium find!

You can’t look at them and not smile! The new Minions movie is coming out in less than two weeks, and I know more than a few, who are very excited to go and see it! In the meantime though, is a great time to start hunting for the 7th and final minion.

I picked up two of our favorites, and my son wouldn’t leave me alone, till I let him open them to find out which Minions we got.

I mean, how sanitary was that!?  No worries though,  look how they do it nowadays:  it’s put in a separate little package, to the side of the cereal bag, which is so much better!

Here are the two Minion cuties we found in our cereals.  They put me in the mood to make some marshmallow pop Minions, similar to ones I had found on Tablespoon.  It’s so much fun trying to create these characters, and if you’d like to try them too, here is a list of the supplies I purchased at Walmart to make them:

Regular size marshmallows
Marshmallow fluff
Candy eyes in 2 different sizes
Blue fondant, blue fruit rollups, blue food coloring spray, or blue sprinkles
Yellow candy melts
Sucker sticks
Frosting, food coloring or black edible writing gel

  • To make these, I melted about 1/4 of my yellow candy melts according to package directions.
  • Then I dipped the tops of my sucker sticks in the marshmallow fluff (to help the marshmallows stick better), and rolled the marshmallows in the yellow candy melts, and laid them on parchment paper.
  • I rolled out my blue fondant, and cut strips for the bottom half of my minions.  I’ve also seen others use blue sprinkles or fruit rollups, or even blue candy melts.
  • I didn’t like how they looked underneath, so I dabbed some of the yellow candy melt on the bottom and sprinkled on blue sprinkles, so they didn’t look “naked.”
  • I mixed some store bought frosting with gray food coloring, and piped around the eyes, and then used the black writing gel for the straps and mouths.
