5 Must Try Cleaning Tips and Tricks

July 14, 2017

Some people like to clean.  I was one of those people, way back when, before kids, when I had more time and a tiny apartment.  The more kids, and older and more tired and busy I get, the harder it is to keep it all together.  I’m not alone in that, am I?  I LOVE finding new cleaning tips and tricks to get things spic and span, in a simple, easy and efficient manner.  These cleaning tips are all things I’ve used and love, and have shared before, but are awesome enough to share again in case you missed them the first time!  🙂

Super Simple and Effective Tub and Shower Cleaner

All you have to do is fill a dish wand with half vinegar and half Dawn dish liquid. Before you use it the first time, make sure you keep the wand upright so the liquid doesn’t leak out. It’s so simple to run a little water in the shower, and then scrub it down with the dish wand, rinse it well, and then take your shower.  Your shower will be clean and sparkling!

Soak a couple of paper towels in white vinegar and wrap them around your faucet.  Let them soak for a while and then scrub.  I’ve never had an issue with it removing a finish on my counter-tops, but if you’re worried, test it in an inconspicuous spot first, and make sure you have a window open or fan running to vent out the vinegar smell.

Does your kitchen garbage can get grimy and smelly sometimes?  Well, a super easy way to clean way down in the bottom of it, is to keep a toilet brush (new and used only for that purpose) on hand to easily clean deep inside the garbage can.

I have been putting off cleaning out the bottom of my kitchen trash can and my recycle bin. The toilet brush is a great idea! It would also be really handy for getting rid of out-of-reach cobwebs. Thanks for these tips!

I love all of your tips, and I have all of those problems. We have terrible mineral deposit problems and I’ve used vinegar to remove it, but I need to try the paper towel trick. I love the paint brush for blinds, too!

Love these! Differently going to try the bath tub tricks. Do you think the dawn and viniger would work on yucky toilet hard water stains?

I’ve never tried it for that. My only hesitation would be all the suds. Has anyone in this thread of comments ever tried it?

I’ve been trying to find a better way to clean the blinds- I hate doing that job. Going to buy a paintbrush and try this trick STAT.
