How to Dust a Lamp AND LEGOs

Isn’t it amazing how fast dust builds up inside our homes? In our house we take off our shoes when we come in from outside, and we don’t really live on a busy street, AND we have 2 air filters running, BUT we still get tons of dust! Since my kids, husband and myself all have allergies, it’s important to attempt to keep up with the dust.  Not that I always do…but it’s important. 😛

If you struggle with keeping the dusting done too, I have a couple of suggestions that might help, particularly for lamps, lampshades and LEGOs and other figurines.

I’ve found the best tool for dusting lampshades, and I also use it on valances, AND for getting lint off clothing.  My hubby and I are both a little obsessed with ironing, and we have used a lint brush similar to this one for years and years, without having to replace it.  Then by accident, I realized it would work on lint AND my dusty lampshades. I haven’t looked back. It’s so much easier to grab than the attachments to the vacuum, and it works fabulously!  🙂

The other nice thing about these lint brushes is that if you rub your hand across it in the opposite direction, everything you just collected comes right off and can be thrown away. So it practically lasts forever, unlike the sticky tape lint rollers.

Many lampstands nowadays have some filigree type twists and turns and crevices which can make them super hard to dust. A simple little paint brush or makeup brush can really help to get in all those tight spots.

Just use your brush to pull the dust off onto a soft cloth or your vacuum cleaner attachment.

In our home, my youngest son’s room ends up being the guest room whenever we have company that stays over. So coincidentally, his room stays the cleanest in the house, since I’m always whipping it into shape for guests.

The same little brush that you use on the lampstands can also be used with a soft cloth to get the dust off of the LEGOs as well!
