Hamburgers in the Oven

In the oven is a new and super easy way to cook your hamburgers! It means less handling of the raw meat, you can cut them all to the size you prefer, and they get done all at the same time!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef I prefer organic grass fed
  • 2 Tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1/4 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp salt if your breadcrumbs have a lot of sodium, you may want to reduce your amount of salt
  • Optional: pepper garlic powder, your favorite cheese

Instructions

  • Mix together all the ingredients.
  • Spread it out, and pat it down evenly, in an older (or one that’s easy to clean) greased 9 x 13 inch pan.
  • Poke holes throughout the meat with a fork to help it cook evenly.
  • Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 30 minutes, or until your meat reaches at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • If you like melted cheese on your burgers, place your cheese slices on near the end, or at the end of cooking time.
  • Like any hamburger meat, it shrinks as it cooks, so don’t be alarmed. Also some fat and liquid comes out as it cooks. When it's done cooking, you can either drain it off or let it reabsorb.
  • Then you’re ready to cut your meat into bun size burgers. A lot of people make them into little slider sizes and serve them on Hawaiian Rolls, but I wanted regular large restaurant size burgers, and the 2 pounds of ground beef made 6 nice size burgers.
