Easy Crochet Scrunchie

I really enjoy crocheting, and generally prefer small projects that I actually have a chance of finishing. I have been making some hair scrunchies for my daughter, and have had lots of fun using all different colors. I found my pattern here (printable PDF file), and it's nice because it only takes about 20 minutes to make one.

First you need some fabric covered elastic bands. The author of this pattern said that the ones without the joining metal clasp seem to last longer without breaking.

Then you start joining the yarn to the rubber band using the single crochet stitch (ehow has detailed instructions, if you need them, on how to do this first row), and when you are done, slip stitch to the first stitch.

Squeeze as many stitches as you can onto the rubber band, because it will make it nice and full when you do the next row.

For the second row, chain 6 and single crochet in the next single crochet  and repeat this all the way around. Then join together back at the beginning, fasten off and weave in ends.

I ended up making a bunch in different colors.

Here's how they look in my daughter's hair...
