Our pandemic puppy, Lexi.

We’ve so enjoyed our sweet Lexi! She’s brought so much joy and activity and sweetness into our life.

She’s also a ton of work, but she’s worth it to us. 💕

Because she’s soooooo photogenic, I had to have a space to share my billions of photos of her!  😊

For 30 years of my husband and my marriage, we haven’t had a pet other than fish and guinea pigs because of my asthma. When we were first married we got two kittens from a shelter, but later after a trip to the emergency room where I was diagnosed with asthma, I was told I needed to give my cats to someone else because I was severely allergic to them (So heartbreaking).

So we never considered a dog or cat because of my allergic reactions. However, my sister had read that Shichon Teddy Bear dogs often don’t produce an allergic reaction, and so my sister’s family got one, and then my mom and dad got one too! 😊

So I spent some time around their dogs to see how I would do with my asthma, and I seemed to be fine. Of course, my family and I fell in love with these sweet dogs and really wanted one. When the pandemic hit, and we were confined mostly at home for awhile, my heart decided we needed a Shichon very badly, and so a month or so later we got our cutie, Lexi Mabel.

(Let me tell you, it was so hard having everyone agree on a name. Of course I wanted something like “Pixie” or “Trixi” which my daughter supported, but not my hubby or son. (I have no idea why😉). We finally agreed on “Lexi” and my kids really liked “Mabel” so that’s her name — Lexi Mabel.

She’s changed our life so much with so many good things (her love, snuggles, happiness, softness, joy, walking her, taking a ton of pictures of her because we think she’s the cutest…), and a couple not so fun things (no more sleeping in, worrying about her when she’s not feeling well, watching her constantly because she’ll eat ANYTHING she finds, and you know, picking up the poo…).

We’re always thinking how boring our life must have been before we got her! 😛
