Organizing in the Garage

My husband thinks I'm a good organizer, but he also enjoys orderliness as much as I do, and since we are both firstborns with typical firstborn traits, our mental states are so much better in a tidy organized environment.

Garage Organization

Needless to say, he does a good job keeping the garage an efficient space.
Now I didn't wait for him to tidy anything before I snapped these pictures, so things aren't "perfect," just a REAL representation of some ideas for organizing garages, that I hope are helpful.

Hubby uses a pegboard for the tools he uses most frequently to keep them in easy reach.

We have 5 bikes in the family, and he uses this track system high and low to store them off the floor so we can still park our cars in our somewhat narrow garage.

These track systems can be bought at home improvement or hardware stores.

They adjust to store all kinds of things you might have in your garage.

Hooks can be used for storing things like ladders.

Shelves work great too, which we have in a little alcove, and they can go all the way up for lots of vertical storage.

These links have some great additional tips and photos for garage organization:

I Heart Organizing--labeled bins, coat hooks for dog leashes, utility hooks for golf bags

Good Housekeeping--lockable cabinets for hazardous materials

HGTV--Categorize and group items

Hope this is helpful!

Blessings,

I've recently organized my garage by adding some shelving and a track system for a ladder and tools, but I could use a pegboard system, too! Will have to get on it! Thanks for posting!

My oldest son can get them down from anywhere, but the two littlest ones need help.

Thanks for sharing your organization ideas for the garage on Great Garage Challenge link up! I have a question for you about the tracks.... Can your kids access their bikes, get them down and put them back up all by themselves with that track system? Because self-sufficiency is a requirement of mine!
    Warmly,
    Sharon
