As I’ve gotten older, 😛 it’s harder for me to open jars when I’m preparing food in the kitchen, and so I thought I would share this tip for others having the same issue. My mom used to have some of these little squares in her kitchen utensil drawer, made out of non slip shelf and drawer liner, that we would pull out and use on a tight jar lid, and they helped so much to get a nice grip, to make opening a jar easier.

To “make” these, I unrolled the matting, which I purchased for just a few dollars, although if you have any left over shelf liner on hand, that would work great, and measured and cut my squares 6″ x 6″ (or you could also cut circles).
My daughter is demonstrating how this little “grippy” helps you to get a good grip on a jar lid, and gives you the needed traction to turn the lid easier!
These are such a simple thing, but I can’t tell you how many times they come in handy in a kitchen.
I’ve also used them in trying to unscrew hand tightened bolts, or to get a good grip on an L-wrench.
Hope this little tip makes your life a bit easier! 🙂
