Oh my goodness, this recipe is ALL over the internet, and now that I’ve made it, I can certainly see why!
It was sweet, rich and cool, and we enjoyed it very much, especially my husband who
is really fond of banana pudding!
The recipe is simple and yet looks fancy when you’re all done.

INGREDIENTS:

Make and bake the cake according to the directions on the box.

After the cake has cooled, use a wooden spoon handle (or other similar size utensil), and poke holes all over the cake down to the bottom.

Then mix the pudding powder with the milk, and pour over the cake, using a spoon to work it gently down into the holes.

Chill in the fridge for at least a couple of hours.  Then spread the whipped topping over the pudding layer and chill again if desired (although I skipped this step).

Crush your vanilla wafers in a ziploc bag. Now some people spread the crumbles all over the cake, but since I knew we wouldn’t be eating the cake all at once, I didn’t want the cookie crumbles to get soggy, so I only put them on as I served individual pieces, and I did the same with the banana slices so they wouldn’t get all yucky and brown.

It’s such a great dessert for summertime!

Thanks I try the cake it was all that you said it would be, Thanks from sharing it, But I did something different, I put dice banana on top of the pudding and then topped it off with the whipped cream, and like someone started before I didn’t put the cookie on top until I served it, It was GREAT. 6. I followed your instructions but changed it to chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, and chocolate graham cracker crumbs. Yum! Thank you for sharing!

  7. would have been nice to say cook pudding as directed with milk, instead of just prepare with milk. That was a waste…..

        1. I think the taste would be the same, it just may be a bit thicker to try and push it down into the holes in the cake.

  8. I see bananas are optional. But if I want to put them on when should I ??? Do I put on top of pudding mix when I put in the frig ??

  9. I made this only i used vanilla pudding because i don’t like banana pudding. I put the bananas on top of the pudding. It was a big hit in my house.

  10. I am making this for my dad for his birthday. he loves banana pudding and vanilla wafers. this will be such a special treat for him

    1. 4 stars
I am making this now as I type this for my husband’s Birthday. He loves Banana pudding and likes cake. He saw a Banana pudding cake on Facebook he wanted me to try to fix, but it was just way too soon for me to buy the ingredients to make such a complex cake, seeing as today is his Birthday. I came across this recipe and decided that I would make this instead. Crossing my fingers it comes out Okay.

  11. I just made this!! I’m on the step where the cake is in the fridge, ready for the cool whip layer on top. I am going to use whipped cream. Several people mentioned that they left the fresh bananas off until serving for fear of them turning brown. What if you sliced the bananas and layered them in between the pudding and the whipped cream/topping? Wouldn’t that be similar to layering them in a banana cream pie? I think I will try that, I want the fresh banana!!

    1. I think it would be fine to layer the bananas; that’s how my mom used to make her banana pudding! 🙂
