My mother has the best cinnamon roll recipe with maple frosting, and it is pure ambrosia, but it is a bit labor intensive (totally worth it).
These cinnamon sugar crusted biscuits are a scrumptious, and quick alternative for those days when a cinnamon craving strikes, and even my pickiest eater loves them!

I was inspired by the pretty cinnamon sugar biscuits from Grandma Bee’s Recipes, but decided to take them up a notch for my family’s large sweet tooth.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 5 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • One 16.3 ounce can flaky biscuits (8 biscuits in a can)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tablespoon cinnamon

Frosting (2 options):
Homemade glaze with 1 cup powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla & 1 to 2 Tablespoons of milk OR, my favorite, store bought canned vanilla frosting, slightly melted for drizzling

Make your cinnamon sugar by combining the granulated sugar and cinnamon, and then melt your butter in a separate bowl.

Open the biscuits and dip them in the butter, then coat them individually, thoroughly and thickly with the cinnamon sugar, on all sides.

Place on a lightly greased baking pan, and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven, for just around 14 minutes or till done.

While they are cooling for a few minutes, either mix up your powdered sugar glaze, or spoon out a large spoonful of store bought vanilla frosting, and
just melt it for less than 10 seconds in the microwave, just so it’s barely pourable, not “liquidy.”
Then you are ready to drizzle to your heart’s content.  My personal favorite is to use the store bought vanilla frosting because it is so much richer, but then I have a huge sweet tooth!
