Don’t you just love an easy, but delicious crockpot chicken recipe? Boy, I sure do! This Crockpot Butter and Ranch Chicken is a winner! I’ve easily made this 5 times in the last 6 weeks because it’s so easy and so yummy! Plus, it takes just a few hours on high in the crockpot with no fussing.

Now, I’m warning you, this isn’t a “fat free” recipe, but it’s so worth the calories! Even the butter approves. Do you see the butter “heart” in the mashed potatoes? I did not make that on purpose! I noticed it after I took the pictures!  🙂  Just one of those tiny things that brightens the day…

Ok, so you only need 2 ingredients besides the chicken, so it can’t get any easier than that!

Ingredients:

  • 2 to 3 pounds fresh (not frozen) boneless skinless chicken breasts (around 4-6 depending on size)
  • One 16oz bottle of ranch dressing (light or regular, but I wouldn’t use fat free)
  • 1/2 cup or one stick of butter (I like salted, but unsalted works too)

Spray crockpot with cooking spray and place the chicken breasts in it. Cut up butter into pieces, and place on the chicken. Pour ranch dressing over the top.
Cover and cook chicken in crockpot on high for around 3-4 hours, or on low around 5-7 hours, or until cooked thoroughly. It depends on how hot your crockpot runs.

It’s done when it’s so tender it just flakes apart with a fork. The internal temperature that’s considered safe for cooked chicken is at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once you take out the chicken breasts, scoop out the sauce, whisk it, and serve over your chicken breasts like gravy.
Serve with mashed potatoes or rice, or your favorite side dishes. I think you’ll love the flavor and the tenderness of the chicken!

  1. This looks delicious! I have all of the ingredients on hand so I think we will try this tomorrow. Last week I made the Pesto Chicken and everyone liked that one as well! Thank you for the dinner ideas!

    1. So glad you enjoyed the Pesto Chicken! It’s so funny I got your comment about the Butter and Ranch Chicken today because that’s what I made for dinner tonight…AGAIN! Hope you enjoy it! 🙂

      1. So, we loved the Butter and Ranch Chicken! It was so nice to come home to a crock pot meal. I just added a salad and some rolls. One change we made to the recipe was the addition of a few pieces of crumbled bacon that were left over from breakfast. We will definitely make this again. Thank you so much, I really enjoy your blog!

  2. That looks delicious! I’ve often used ranch dressing on chicken but never thought to combine it with butter to make more of a gravy. Pinned.
