I learned something about myself this week: I’m officially too old for amusement park rides! We had an annual festival in our city over the past few days, and I coaxed my 11 year old son to go on a ride with me, not having even the tiniest thought that there would be a problem.
I’ve always loved roller coasters, and vowed I would never get too ancient or chicken to ride on them. The ride we chose wasn’t even near a roller coaster in height or length; it had umbrellas for goodness sakes, and went up and down and all around. We had just sampled a few fair goodies, not overindulging, just sharing of few bites of this and that.
I climbed on the ride with my son, and the first two laps were exhilarating and fun, but then I had to close my eyes from the s-p-i-n-n-i-n-g, and with each lap, I got dizzier, more nauseous, and my whole body broke out in a sweat. Now normally rides are over way to soon, and you don’t feel like you got your money’s worth. Well, this became the ride that would never end…
My son kept asking me over and over if I was all right, and I didn’t want to scare him, so I just said, “uh huh,” and concentrated really hard on not throwing up or passing out. My helpful hubby was on the ground with my daughter watching, and taking pictures as my face and body language changed with each lap, up and down and all around of the umbrella ride.
I was sick for two days after that. Yep, I’m officially too old for amusement park rides…
Before the ride though, the BBQ pork sandwich my hubby and I shared WAS really good. 😛
Now that my stomach has finally settled down from my wild ride, I’m looking forward to trying some of the delicious looking recipes these ladies have shared this week, and I hope you’ll enjoy them too! Let’s see what everyone has cooked up:
