At our house we keep the majority of our medicines in an upper cabinet in the kitchen. We’ve done this ever since our children were really small, to keep them out of our children’s reach.  Almost two years ago when I first started blogging, it was one of the first things I organized and posted about.

Over time though, it had gotten back into a horrible mess.

I wasn’t able to find anything quickly if my life depended on it, at this point.

So…. I completely emptied out the cabinet and sorted everything on my kitchen table, discarded expired medications and regrouped everything (Here is a link from the FDA on how to properly deal with unused medications)., Kitchen Medicine Cabinet, Joyful Homemaking

I bought a couple of turntables to use in the cabinet to more easily be able to see what I have on hand.
A couple of other very useful things to use when organizing, are baskets and a label maker!

Here is what the cabinet looked like when I was done (I hear angels singing)!

By the way, this cabinet that hold the medicines is an upper cabinet because you should keep medicines up out of the reach of small children.

I relocated the batteries and a few miscellaneous items that had made their way into the cabinet.

Now it’s tidy and organized once again. I know for my self that even my “organized” spaces need an overhaul maintenance now and then!  If you are interested in another kitchen organization post, here is my pantry redo:

I hope I’ve offered you some helpful tips!

  1. One of my New Year projects is to go back through every drawer and cupboard and re-organize them. My medicine cabinet looks a lot like your before picture right now, I love your idea of lazy susans, great idea! 🙂

  2. We keep medicines in the kitchen cupboard, too. Interesting!! Mine are in an old shoe box. Not a pretty as yours, but organized and easy to pull out when we need something. You have some terrific ideas!! Thanks so much!

  3. Most excellent. Don’t be embarrassed. The problem with the medicine cupboard is we are either sick or attending someone who is sick and these times are stressful…we shove stuff in when in the mental state. Your revision is super. ~Kelly

  4. Thank you for sharing your pictures! Ours needs to be organized – it’s not subdivided far enough, I think – and I need inspiration for what sorts of categories, containers, etc. I might use. This is great!
