Valentine’s Day is just a few days away, and it’s always a nice excuse to eat chocolate (if we needed an excuse :)!
I’ve made these chocolate caramels around Christmas time, and packaged them up so prettily,
but they’re perfect for Valentine’s Day as well, and they are so easy and quick to make with only two ingredients!
For slightly more detailed instructions see my post here, but all you do to make these treats, is to melt 1/4 milk or semi sweet chocolate chips (I like using the mini ones), and stir till their nice and smooth. 30 seconds in the microwave is usually enough.
Then for each 1/4 cup of chocolate chips, use 6 caramels, and soften them for about 10 seconds in the microwave, then roll them around in the melted chocolate till they are covered,
and lay them on wax paper or parchment paper to harden for about two hours.
You can wrap them in colored foil, or put them in these little baking cups found in the baking aisle of the grocery.
I picked up some cute little decor items from the dollar section at Target to make serving them even more festive for Valentine’s Day!
Here’s what they look like inside, yummy!
Another fun idea for Lego lovers, is these cute silicone molds that can be purchased on Amazon.
I bought some months ago, and decided this was the perfect time to use them. They were a cinch to use and clean!
I simply melted chocolate chips and also a few colored candy melts that I had on hand in the cupboard, poured the melted chips into the molds,
and after letting them harden in the refrigerator for a little while, out came these charming fellows!
My kids were thrilled, and I think even my husband liked them! 🙂
A few weeks ago, my husband brought home some cupcakes from the grocery store, and they had these cute little plastic heart rings on them as toppers, and since I hated to just throw them away, I came up with a couple of ideas to reuse them.
I found some foam flowers in my craft supplies stash, and used a hot glue gun to secure them to the tops of the ring to make pretty accessories for my daughter.
For my youngest son, I raided his Lego stash, and found a small square piece that he could attach other little Legos too,
and secured it to the heart ring with my hot glue gun.
I thought both options turned out so cute!
(Of course with little ones that may put things in their mouth, you would have to be careful!)
For very little expense you can have some cute and fun Valentine’s options for the kiddos!
Hope this gives you some fun ideas!!! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Blessings, Margo
