Entryway Update

Ever since we moved into our home about 6 years ago, we have been wanting to do some updates.
Finally, in the last few months we crossed two updates off of our to do list, one of which was the floors in our hallways.

You may or may not remember what my entryway and hallway tile looked like, but it was white with dark green diamonds from 1995, and not my particular taste, plus the white showed every little dust particle that landed on it.

My hubby and I kept talking about redoing it ourselves, but with time at a premium and “know how” at a minimum, we bit the bullet and paid someone to replace it for us, and I am so glad we did!

We did however decide to go ahead and paint the trim ourselves,
while getting things ready for the floor crew to come in.

I’ve always preferred white trim because of it’s crisp, clean, bright look,
we just hadn’t gotten to all of it yet, and decided this was as good a time as any.

We couldn’t believe how changing the color of the trim made the wall color look so different,
but regardless, we liked it.

The ceilings in our entryway and living room are 13 plus feet tall, so it was a bit of a job for my husband to tape off the area, to try and keep all the dust from the tear out, out of the rest of the house. You can see through the plastic sheeting, what a huge mess was made by breaking the floor up, and we were so glad we didn’t try this ourselves.

This is the “attractive” look after the mess was cleaned up.
It took two days for two to three guys at a time working, to get this far on the job.

We picked out a neutral beige, speckled looking tile which was similar looking to a floor we had in our previous house, and which I dearly loved for it’s ability to look clean without having to sweep every five minutes.

I asked them to lay the tile on the diagonal because I think it looks elegant and kind of fancy.
I do love it!

This was after the grout, but before the baseboards.
It ended up taking a full 5 days to get the job done.

I struggled with putting rugs back out, but we seem to track in so much,
that I wanted to protect my floors.

I’m always changing up what furniture I have out here, as I struggle with making it look just “right!”
My hubby never knows where things will be when he gets home.

hallway, laundry room and bathroom done,

with some remodeling we did in the bathroom.
