I think I could fairly easily become a vegetarian, maybe even a vegan, because I’m not fond of handling raw meat, and many experts think it’s healthier to consume fewer animal products.

Even though I am not there yet, when I came across this meatless meatball recipe, I was so excited to try it because the picture looked so appetizing, and although it didn’t taste like a beef meatball, it was still good, and my husband and oldest son gobbled them up.

The recipe does contain egg and cheese, so it’s not a vegan recipe, but I am keeping my eyes open for a good vegan meat substitute recipe, and I would definitely make these “meatballs” again.

Meatless Meatballs

Vegetarian meatballs made with walnuts and cheese are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional meatballs. Walnuts are a great source of protein and healthy fats, and cheese adds a creamy texture and cheesy flavor to the meatballs. Onion soup mix and breadcrumbs add a savory flavor and help bind the meatballs together.

When dinner was over, we only had one lone “meatball” left, so I think that was a positive sign and will be making these again!

  1. Since I watch a video about plant-based diet, I decided to become one and lessen my meat intake. It is a good thing that you’ve shared your recipe with us. I also love meatballs in my spaghetti.

  2. This is very similar to a Cheesy Walnut Burgers recipe I like (from Taste of Home magazine) but I never thought of making them as meatballs! Maybe that’s because I never liked meat in spaghetti.

Something I do like, though, that some people think is a good vegetarian substitute for sauce with ground beef in it, is Chickicheesinara Sauce. It’s easy and cheap!

  3. I have to admit that when I read Meatless Meatballs, I was a little apprehensive. We are meat lovers through and through. However, all the ingredients in your recipe are things my family loves. So, I’m going to try these meatballs. Thanks for the recipe and for a healthy alterantive 🙂
