We were poking around some little shops a few weeks ago, while vacationing in New Hampshire, and I saw these chocolate covered gift wrapped Twinkies, which were around $4 or $5 for each one. I was a bit intrigued by the idea and decided to try it at home. Now this isn’t something I would make often, but maybe for some special or fun occasion, as these were a bit more labor intensive than I would normally be willing to do.

To make around six of these delights, melt an 11 ounce bag of chocolate chips with a dab (less than a Tablespoon of shortening) in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between, till creamy.

Then take your unwrapped Twinkie, and using a spoon, drizzle the chocolate over till it’s covered,

and then lay on wax paper. I put mine in the refrigerator for a few minutes to help the firming up process.

Then I drizzled some melted white candy melts on top to fancy them up a bit, and added some color with a few raspberries.
They certainly did not last long around here, and I think they are a festive treat for a special occasion!
Hope you enjoy!
Oh yum! My hubby would like this 🙂 Maybe for our anniversary…
Thanks for stopping in 🙂

Miz Helen
a grown up twinkie, I love this idea. Hugs!
I saw these at the beach this summer and they looked so good. But $5? Ouch! They are on my to make list too.
These look so good, and I don’t even like twinkies. I have a link party on Wednesdays, and I would love it if you would link this and any other posts. It is called Wednesdays Adorned From Above Link Party. It runs from Wednesday to Sundays.
