Note: This little project is more for the fun value than the edible value, and I would be sure to pull out the toothpicks and pretzels before your little marshmallow guy melts completely, and before you drink your hot chocolate, so you won’t swallow them! Be sure to supervise children!
Hot chocolate is a very popular winter beverage at my house, and of course it has to include lots of marshmallows!
My children have a history of making creations out of marshmallows, as evidenced in this picture from some of the first posts for my blog. 🙄
Some of these guys were definite fails on the looks scale, but still lots of fun!
Anyway, so of course we had to make a marshmallow snowman to float in our hot cocoa!
Doesn’t he look perfectly happy?
Here is what you need to make this adorable little fellow:
- Pretzel sticks
- Medium size marshmallows
- Toothpicks (optional)
- Candy orange slice OR candy corn
- Black or brown edible writing gel or melted chocolate
- Kitchen scissors (optional)
Connect your marshmallows with either the toothpicks or the pretzel sticks, and then stick the pretzels in for the arms and legs.
Cut a triangle shaped “nose” out of the orange candy, or use a candy corn for the nose.
Then you’re ready to add the happy eyes, mouth and buttons with either your writing gel, or some melted chocolate chips in a pastry bag, or heat safe baggie with a tiny cut in the corner to pipe on the chocolate.
Gently set your snowman atop your steaming mug of hot cocoa and watch him melt.
Now this little project is more for the fun value than the edible value, and I would be sure to pull out the toothpicks and pretzels before your little marshmallow guy melts completely, and before you drink your hot chocolate, so you won’t swallow them! Be sure to supervise children!
Create some memories making your marshmallow snowmen!
My idea for this little guy was from a picture on Pinterest that led to a photo purchasing site.
