Even though I always use a liner (garbage bag) in my kitchen garbage can, it still ends up icky sometimes, especially on the bottom.
There is a nice little tool that works really good for reaching down to the bottom to scrub with…
Yes, it’s a toilet brush! A new one that has never been used in a toilet!
Just add some hot soapy water, and if you prefer, a dash of bleach, and scrub away.
The long brush makes the job so much easier! Rinse the garbage can thoroughly and let dry completely.
Having the right tool makes a nasty job so much simpler.
Keep your kitchen garbage can brush separate from your bathroom brush!
I hung mine on the inside of the kitchen sink cabinet.
Happy Cleaning!
Brilliant! Much better than reaching waaaaaaay down into a stinky trash can with your hands — eeew! And the Dollar Store usually has them, so investing in one exclusively for the trash cans is inexpensive, too. I love repurposing!
I can’t believe I never thought of this! I scrub out all of our trash cans every month, and it is such a pain to reach down in to scrub them. I agree with Lori that picking one up at the dollar store is a cheap investment! Thanks for sharing!
So glad it was helpful! 🙂
That’s so clever!!! Thank you! I’ll definitely use your advice!
