Last week I posted about how I cleaned up and organized my 8 year old daughter’s room, but I didn’t get to her closet. So this week I worked on that and a few of her dresser drawers.  Here is a shot of her closet before I started.

We are fortunate to be given hand-me-downs from a stylish cousin, but you can see them piled on her
dresser that is in the closet, waiting for me to store them. Also there was just general messiness and clutter that needed to be gone through.
I have been saving these wipes containers since my 5 year old son was a baby, thinking I would use them for something sometime.

So I decided no time like the present, and took off the lids and used them in my daughter’s drawers to sort her little clothing items. (After I went through the drawers and purged a bunch of outgrown socks, tshirts and jammies)  Here is what they look like being useful.

I’ve also used little shoe boxes as drawer dividers to HELP her and I to keep things tidy and easy to find.

I found a lot of outgrown things to hand down to another cutie pie.

Then I stored the clothes that are still too big for my daughter in a rubbermaid bin off to the side in her closet.

The only things left to do were to relocate a few items to their proper places in the house, and I was done. Here is the AFTER picture:

Much nicer!!!

  1. I love the reuse of the wipe bins! I am a big fan of reusing items in a new fashion. Looks great!

  2. Great Job!!! I have organized my daughtes closet so many times and an hour later she has everything pulled down. I even put a lock on it but she grabs her stool out of the bathroom to unlock it. Any advise on training her not to change clothes 500 times a day would be greatly appreaciated. Its funny I have no problem with my boy in this area

  3. Seeing your shoe box drawer dividers reminded me that I have some shoe boxes dividers in one of my drawers from my oldest daughter – and she turns 30 next month. They’ve lasted me quite a while!

  4. Oh you have given me some great ideas! So happy you’re such a great and frugal organizer 🙂 Have an amazing weekend!
