We love breakfast for dinner at our house! I enjoy it because if I didn’t thaw something for dinner, or I need a super quick meal to put together, pancakes or eggs, or even cereal and fruit it is! On Friday nights, I like to do something special for dinner, whether it’s something fancy, or I just make a nice dessert for afterwards. So last Friday evening, I put together a pancake bar, and it was so fun and pretty too, and I decided it was even special enough to work for company sometime!
I totally admit I bought ready-made frozen pancakes for this meal because I knew I would be taking pictures, and I wanted my pancakes to look pretty and all the same size! 😛 I will include my pancake recipe in the printable recipe though. 🙂
For my pancake bar, of course, I started with the pancakes, then added some lovely toppings, so that everyone could choose what they liked best.
TOPPING OPTIONS:
- Butter
- Syrup
- Whipped cream
- Toasted Pecans
- Chopped Bananas (do these last so they won’t turn brown)
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- Confetti Sprinkles
- Chocolate Chips
- Hardboiled Eggs
- Bacon
All the different colors make such a pretty presentation even with no other decorations!
My family loved choosing their favorite tasty treats to go on top of their pancakes!
Here were my choices: blueberries, strawberries, whipped cream and syrup. 🙂

Pancake Bar
Ingredients
- Here’s the pancake recipe:
- 2 cups unbleached flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 2/3 cup cinnamon chips
- Bar options: Butter Syrup, Whipped cream, Toasted Pecans, Chopped Bananas (do these last so they won’t turn brown), Blueberries, Strawberries, Confetti Sprinkles, Chocolate Chips
- Extras: Hardboiled Eggs Bacon, Yogurt, Pineapple, Peaches, Raspberries, Blackberries, Honey, Flavored Syrups, Cottage Cheese, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Powdered Sugar, Coconut, Sausages, Hashbrowns
Instructions
- They’re easy and quick to make, just mix your dry ingredients together, then your wet ingredients, and then combine them both.
- This recipe makes 30 “4 inch” pancakes. If you have an 1/8 cup measuring cup, it’s the perfect amount for portioning the batter on the griddle or frying pan.
- Drop by ⅛ cup measure onto griddle or frying pan on medium low heat.
- Flip over when bubbles start to appear on top.
The additions to your pancake bar are only limited by your imagination, but some other options could be:
- Yogurt
- Pineapple
- Peaches
- Raspberries
- Blackberries
- Honey
- Flavored Syrups
- Cottage Cheese
- Peanut Butter
- Jelly
- Powdered Sugar
- Coconut
- Sausages
- Hashbrowns
For your convenience, here’s a printable list of additions and topping ideas.
Since we love pancakes so much at my house, here are a couple of other luscious pancake recipes I’ve posted:
Copycat Cinnamon Pancakes
These are made with yummy cinnamon chips!

Perfect for this time of year or anytime!
Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes
These are amazing!
If you’re up to the challenge, you could even host a pancake bar with different kinds of pancakes!
That certainly looks pretty! That would be a fun idea for a youth retreat breakfast (Says one who cooked for youth retreats for many years!) I wish I had thought about it then!
I agree, this would be a great idea for a retreat! 🙂
Congratulations!
Your recipe has been featured this week on Full Plate Thursday. Hope you enjoyed the feature and your new Red Plate!
Come Back Soon!
Miz Helen
That’s such a good idea! Would be really fun for brunch with a mimosa bar as well!
This looks scrumptious and fun. Everyone would enjoy this breakfast.
Your picture was pretty and I was happy to see you purchased them perfect little pancakes, first thing I thought was how did she get her pancakes so uniform.
He he, no, my pancakes aren’t perfectly round! 😛
I’m hungry. ;_;
I haven’t had pancakes for a couple of weeks now, and this makes me want them more. Everyone around here prefers waffles and that’s what we get. Waffle House. Ugh. I like when my BF makes pancakes on the weekends.
*stomach growls*
*drools*
Pancakes… 😀
Oh. My. Goodness! As much as I love brunch, I’ve never experienced a pancake bar. I’ll have to make this ASAP!
I’m considering turning my girl’s bday party into a morning breakfast/brunch party and creating a pancake bar. My question/concern: The pancakes will obviously be cold/room-temp…is that frowned upon or less appetizing to the guests? I have to admit that I’ve never even tried a pancake that isn’t served hot. Maybe most people don’t care? Especially with a spread of toppings like the ones you have! 🙂
Martha Stewart’s website suggests keeping pancakes warm in the oven, on a baking sheet, with the oven set at 200 degrees. Depending on the age of the kids, though, they may not mind them room temperature. 🙂 http://www.marthastewart.com/1114425/how-keep-your-pancakes-warm
