My mom has made these for years, and the whole family enjoys them. I usually make them around Christmas and New Years for times when we like a few finger foods while watching parades or football, or waiting for the new year to come in. These also are a yummy appetizer when you need one.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 pounds ground turkey, cooked (could also use pork or beef)
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (I just use the coleslaw mix)

  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 2 packages of wonton wrappers (52 in a pack)
  • Makes around 75 wontons

  • Mix cooked ground turkey with the cabbage, garlic salt, pepper and sugar.
  • Put a tablespoon of filling in the middle of the wonton, dip your finger in water and run along the outside edge, then fold one corner over to the other and seal all around the edge.
Coat bottom of frying pan with oil or cooking spray, and fry on low to low medium heat for around 5 minutes or till lightly browned turning a couple of times.
  • I like to spray each side of the wontons with cooking spray to help them brown up a little crispy, and in between turning them over, I also put my lid on my pan to help “steam” the inside.

These are so good; the perfect combination of garlic and salty, sweet and crunchy.

These wontons are delicious plain, but if you like you can serve them with a teriyaki sauce or soy sauce for dipping.
